On February 15, when Mondelēz International announced plans to close its historic Cadbury factory in Dunedin, New Zealand and leave nearly 400 union workers without jobs, it sent shock waves through the region.

The Cadbury workers and their union ETu have launched a campaign to stop Mondelēz from closing the landmark location. As the BCTGM knows too well, Mondelēz is  driven by short term financial goals and aggressive cost cutting, which has resulted in the destruction of quality jobs in communities around the globe. Mondelēz workers worldwide have suffered because of the company’s sell-offs, closures, outsourcing and permanent restructuring. The planned closure of the Dunedin factory marks the end of a 90-year manufacturing presence by Cadbury in New Zealand.

Please join the BCTGM and the ETu in the fight to keep the Dunedin factory open. Dunedin workers need the solidarity and support of North America’s union workers!
